Melinda Gates Making Family Planning Her Signature Issue

Melinda Gates plans to use the Gates Foundation to revolutionize contraception worldwide. She is having the foundation cosponsor a summit of world leaders to raise funds with the goal of giving 120 million more women access to birth control by 2020, and she is pouring money into contraceptive research to seek new methods of birth control.

Huge breakthrough in employment protections for transgender people

"An employer who discriminates against an employee or applicant on the basis of the person's gender identity is violating the prohibition on sex discrimination contained in Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, according to an opinion issued on April 20 by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The opinion, experts say, could dramatically alter the legal landscape for transgender workers across the nation."
